We are under reconstruction for a more efficient and secure system.
Need your refund now?

No cash to file? Pay from your refund.

File today, pay $0 upfront. Our fee comes out of your federal refund when it arrives, plus a small fee charged by our partner bank. Prefer faster access to money? Ask about a 0% refund advance of up to $1,000, subject to the bank's approval.

Option 1 — Pay from your refund

Pay nothing today. Our fee comes out of your federal refund directly through our partner bank, plus the bank's own fee (for example, around $20). Once your refund arrives, the bank deducts both amounts and sends you the rest — you never pay out of pocket.

Option 2 — The 0% refund advance

Need money sooner? Ask for a 0% advance of $250, $500, or up to $1,000 from our partner bank, often available within a day or two after the IRS accepts your return, if approved. There's no interest and no fee on the advance itself — it's a loan from the bank against your expected refund, not your refund itself, and it needs the bank's approval.

Can pay now instead? That's always the cheapest path: no bank fee, and the IRS sends your full refund straight to you. Both options are always your choice, never the default.

How it works

Three steps, no upfront cash required

1. We prepare your return

A credentialed human preparer reviews and signs your return the same way either way you choose to pay — nothing about preparation quality changes.

2. You choose how to pay

At sign-off, choose to pay now, pay from your refund, or ask for the 0% advance. Whichever you choose is confirmed in writing before anything is filed.

3. The bank handles the rest

Our partner bank receives your refund from the IRS, deducts our fee (and the advance, if you took one) and its own fee, and sends you the remainder — usually by direct deposit.

What you should know

Plain disclosures, no fine print tricks

  • Both options are optional — never the default
  • The advance is a loan, not your refund
  • Subject to the bank's approval
  • No interest, no fee on the advance itself
  • A separate, disclosed bank fee applies to Pay From Your Refund
  • Available to eligible clients, where offered

This is not the IRS, and it's not "instant"

File US Taxes is not affiliated with the IRS. "Often within a day or two" describes typical bank processing after the IRS accepts your e-filed return — it is not a guarantee, and actual timing depends on the bank and the IRS, not on us.

The advance is a real loan from the bank

The 0% refund advance is extended and approved by our partner bank, not by File US Taxes. Approval, amount, and terms are the bank's decision. We never guarantee approval and we never charge our own fee for the advance.

We don't lend money ourselves

File US Taxes never advances funds directly and never holds or disburses your refund. Your refund flows from the IRS to the bank account set up for this product, then to you.

Fees are disclosed before you commit

The bank's exact fee for each option is shown and confirmed before you choose it — never hidden until after filing. See ourFAQ for current published pricing.
